SPD | In the final spurt of the election, the pace will be increased again

Sometimes that's true, sometimes it's self-deception or a bold lie. When it comes to Linda Vierecke (SPD), who has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2023, one thing is certain: she is continually drawing attention to herself in her constituency at Falkplatz, Arnimplatz and Helmholtzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg. Almost too committed, almost intrusive, she bothers the residents with information, gives an account of her activities, and seeks contact. She seems to be hyperactive in this regard - and in the best possible way. In personal interactions she is considered friendly and personable.

Shortly before the House of Representatives election this Sunday, the Social Democrat even increased the pace of her activities. She stood at the Schönhauser Allee S-Bahn and U-Bahn station several times early or in the evening and distributed her leaflets alone or with helpers. »I have made 10,000 doorstep calls in the last few years. Maybe you too met me at your front door,” the 43-year-old calls her voters and those who will become voters. »I am a politician who is approachable. I make politics from the neighborhood, for you and for Berlin. I want to continue doing that and that’s why I’m asking for your first vote.«

Tenants of plots in the Bornholm II allotment garden - literary honored in a book of poems by Uwe Kolbe and a distorted account of their experiences by Wladimir Kaminer - found bags with flower seeds, dog waste bags and election advertising hung on their fence gates. In it, Vierecke claims that it saved 56,000 allotments. That's not cheating. She actually made a contribution to the allotment protection law. Climate protection was already her topic before she switched from journalism to politics.

It remains to be seen whether this will pay off in votes for Linda Vierecke. In 2023, Andreas Otto (Greens) won constituency 6 in the Pankow district with a large lead over Katja Rom (Left). The SPD was only able to hold its own just ahead of the CDU in terms of first and second votes. This time Sunčica Klaas is running for the Greens and Maria Bigos for The Left. There are also direct candidates from the CDU, AfD, FDP, Volt and BSW in this constituency.
