International Solidarity Convoy to Ukraine launches €100,000 fund appeal for generators and stoves

“Vladimir Putin is about to boost his criminal assault on Ukraine, and those of us who support the Ukrainian people’s right to resist and determine their own future must in turn intensify our effort.”

With these words, David Acosta, spokesperson for the International Solidarity Convoy to Ukraine, announced the launching of the Convoy’s €100,000 central fund appeal for generators and stoves to help Ukraine’s most vulnerable people survive the 2026-27 winter.

Acosta said: “Last winter, as soon as it became clear that Putin was intent on freezing Ukraine into submission, there was an outpouring of people-to-people aid from all over Europe. That support helped Ukrainian society hold out, despite the appalling damage and suffering inflicted by the Kremlin.

“Putin now has no choice but to intensify his murderous tactic of pounding Ukraine into capitulating: the country’s damaged infrastructure – energy, water, sewage and transport – will come under even more violent attack, as will ordinary Ukrainian citizens in their homes.”

Acosta observed that while the solidarity movement could not supply the military hardware Ukraine most urgently needs, it can supply another asset critical to a Ukrainian victory: real solidarity and proof in deeds to the people of Ukraine that they are not alone.

He explained: “This is the core idea of the Convoy: to combine delivery of aid with spreading the word about the Ukrainian people’s resistance and laying the foundations for strengthening support to Ukraine from European civil society – from its trade unions, social movements, NGOs and local government.”

The fund appeal “Generators and stoves to Ukraine! Help Ukraine’s people survive next winter!” has been launched in ten languages.

It is the central fundraising effort of the Convoy and goes with fund appeals already launched by Ukraine solidarity organisations taking part in the Convoy. These appeals will finance other urgent demands, such as for medical supplies, vehicles and schools and health services reconstruction.

The aid will be distributed in close collaboration with the Convoy’s partners in the Ukraine’s trade unions, social movements and associations supporting the country’s most vulnerable communities.
