Free Maya! Free all Antifa! Action against the Rosenheim SPD European office

Free Maja - Free All Antifas!

On the night of October 2nd to October 3rd we visited the local European office of the SPD.

In addition to marking with paint, we used their shop windows as a space to draw attention to the extradition and conviction of Maja T. We won't watch as an SPD that takes anti-fascism as its flag leaves Maja alone in Hungary.

The Day of Honor, a major event that glorifies Nazism, serves largely to network many thousands of neo-Nazis across Europe. There were physical clashes on the sidelines of the anti-fascist counter-protest in spring 2023.

This incident triggered an international hunt and persecution in which Hungary and Germany played a key role. In this context, the German authorities arrested Maja T. from Jena in Berlin at the end of 2023.

In 2024, Maja was dragged out of the German cell by German authorities under an SPD Chancellor and extradited to Hungary - shortly before the Federal Constitutional Court ruled that the extradition was unlawful. Maja, non-binary, was now, almost 800 days ago, illegally extradited to a right-wing authoritarian and openly anti-queer country. Hungary is known for systematic rule of law deficiencies, constitutional deficits and inhumane prison conditions. Maja describes exactly these conditions in phone calls and letters. Maja reports long periods of solitary confinement, humiliating nude examinations, bed bugs, moldy food and limited medical care. Last summer, Maja even protested against these cruel conditions on hunger strike. At that time, Maja's life was in danger and yet politicians made no effort to repatriate her, to recognize her illegal actions or to take Maja's fears and demands seriously. This is repression.

On February 4, 2026, the Budapest regional court sentenced Maja to eight years in prison, but the public prosecutor insisted on the maximum sentence of 24 years in prison.

Already on the first day of the appeal proceedings two weeks ago it became clear that it was still only about punishing anti-fascist attitudes - and about sending a political signal. The Budapest court rejected the defense's request to even view exculpatory video material, which would have shown that the person identified by the prosecution authorities as Maja was not involved in the actual events. Instead, the court only left room for the pleadings. The public prosecutor demanded an increase in the sentence and demanded at least 13 years in prison in Maja's case. The defense highlighted the gross legal errors in the trial, pointing out that there was no evidence that Maja and her co-defendants were involved in the altercations or in the constructed “association” and that exculpatory evidence had been ignored.

We will not forget this process and the silence of the federal government.

Nothing will stop us from fighting until Maja is home again.

We stand in solidarity with Maja, Gabri, Anna, Gino, Zaid and all the other persecuted anti-fascists. We are all Antifa!

Fire and color of repression - love and power in underground and imprisonment!
