Communiqué from the revolutionary bloc at Pride Aargau 2026

On September 5th we came together and brought a strong, loud and visible revolutionary bloc onto the streets of Aarau. We took the space we needed and showed that Pride cannot be reduced to consumption and colorful logos. Pride is political and we have made it political.

The story of our movement does not begin with sponsors, CSD stages or rainbow advertising. It begins with resistance. Stonewall was not a harmless celebration or a polite appeal to those in power. It was an uprising of people who resisted police violence, repression and a society that did not want to give them a place. This is precisely why it is fatal when attempts are made to depoliticize Pride today.

At the same time, the leadership of Pride Aargau declares its demonstration itself to be an “explicitly political action for queer rights and concerns” and calls for queer flags, posters and banners. Anyone who concludes from this that politics must stop at the gates of Pride contradicts the origins and character of our movement.

We don't allow our politics to be dictated to us.

STONEWALL WAS A RIOT — WE WON'T BE QUIET!

A queer liberation that ends at national borders remains incomplete. Our struggles are interconnected – with feminist struggles, anti-racist resistance and the struggles against colonialism, occupation and capitalist exploitation.

That's why we said unequivocally this year:

NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE!

While people are being killed, displaced and deprived of their livelihoods in Gaza, a Pride must not pretend that none of this has anything to do with our political responsibility. For us, solidarity does not depend on whether it is comfortable or fits into the image of an apolitical celebration.

Queer people exist everywhere. In Palestine, too, they are fighting against anti-queer hostility and patriarchal conditions. Their existence must not be used to dehumanize an entire population or to legitimize occupation and state violence.

We refuse to let people play off against each other. Anyone who fights queer hostility must not promote racism and Islamophobia at the same time. Anyone who stands up against patriarchal violence must not remain silent when people suffer from occupation, expulsion and genocide.

Solidarity means enduring contradictions and still fighting together against oppression.

From Aarau to Palestine, from the feminist movement in Rojava to queer struggles worldwide: our struggles are connected.

HIGH INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY!

Pride has a history of resistance to the police. And this story is not simply over.

Repression and control were also present at our Pride. The cops tried several times to stop our march. Due to the large size of our bloc, our determination and our cohesion, they were unable to achieve this.

This is not a minor incident for us. An institution that ensures order always determines whose security, whose freedom and whose interests are protected. Queer people do not experience police control and repression regardless of racism, class, gender or immigration status.

We therefore have no reason to be grateful to the police for their supposed “protective function”.

Our liberation is not distributed from above. It is fought for – on the streets, in our communities and through organizing.

BOTTOM AND TOPS — WE ALL HATE COPS!

A rainbow on a company logo does not change social conditions.

While companies and parties use Pride as a marketing space, exploitation, social inequality and dependencies remain. Our identities are sold, our struggles are branded, and our anger is turned into consumption. This is precisely the problem with rainbow capitalism: the focus is not on our liberation, but on the question of how to make a profit from our existence.

A Pride that can be easily marketed does not pose a threat to existing conditions.

A pride that goes beyond visibility, yes.

We don't just want to be accepted as long as we are good consumers, employees or customers. We do not want liberation that depends on how well we fit into a society that continues to be based on exploitation and social inequality.

That's why we direct our fight not against individual products or company logos, but against the conditions that limit our liberation.

A—ANTI CAPITALISTA!

This year we showed that Pride doesn't have to be depoliticized to work. On the contrary: a Pride without attitude loses exactly what made its history so important.

We want to celebrate. We want to be visible. We want to be loud.

But we don't want to forget why we take to the streets in the first place.

Pride means resistance against queer hostility. It means fighting against fascism and repression. It means international solidarity. It means feminist and anti-racist organizing. And it means questioning the social conditions that limit our freedom.

On September 5th we took the streets of Aarau. Not as guests, but as part of a movement that knows that rights can never be taken for granted.

We made a strong block. We were loud. We were visible. And we showed what a revolutionary Pride can look like.

Because our liberation is not divisible.
