Miliband quizzed in Pizza Express as Palestine Action protesters arrested outside

The Foreign Secretary and his team were filmed being asked to de-proscribe the direct action group and declare a genocide in Gaza on Sunday night.

An activist also asked Mr Miliband to speak to the demonstrators as they were being held on alleged terror offences for holding signs in support of the group.

The video was posted by Defend Our Juries, which organised the protest, as the Cabinet minister was due to announce a “reset” in the government’s approach on Palestine under Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s leadership.

In his conference speech today, Mr Miliband said: “I want to say to the millions of people in this country and indeed elsewhere who have been moved and outraged by the plight of the Palestinian people: we hear you, you were right.”

A spokesman for the group said: “The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

“The government is desperately trying to create the illusion of change to win back progressive voters. 

“But until they enforce the law against those aiding and abetting war crimes and genocide and stop arresting and jailing the opponents of genocide, no-one is going to take them seriously.”

The protest lasted 16 hours, with activists in a stand-off with police until 5am today, and 94-year-old human rights lawyer Margaret Owen  is now thought to be Britain’s oldest alleged terrorist.

Defend Our Juries accused police of “kettling and shoving people to the ground, many of them elderly, as they attempted to leave the demonstration en masse at about 6.30pm.”

Merseyside Police was contacted for comment.
