Ms Dodds had some notable success as her party’s single Senedd member securing £100 million of funding from the then Welsh Labour government in return for her vote helping it get its Budget approved in 2025.
The deal with Ms Dodds included a promise to ban greyhound racing in Wales and a pilot of £1 bus fares for under-22s.
The MP-turned-Senedd member secured £30m for childcare, £30m for social care, £10m for playgrounds and leisure centres, £10m for rural investment and £5m to address pollution.
Ms Dodds will continue to serve as the MS for Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd.
“Leading the Welsh Liberal Democrats has been the honour of my life, and I used our voice in the Senedd to deliver real change for families, from new funding for childcare to standing up for Wales as a Nation of Sanctuary,” she said.
Under party rules only Lib Dem Welsh MP David Chadwick is eligible to run for leader.
