Derek McNee, 42, from Glasgow, admitted a string of offences beginning in 2021, including raping one of his victims on multiple occasions after giving her drugs which left her unconscious.

Mr McNee, who left the police force in 2016 to open a dog-grooming business in Paisley, also pleaded guilty to possessing an electronic stun-gun, which he had hidden in his car.

At the High Court in Glasgow today, judge Lord Young told him: “This criminal behaviour came to light when the police seized your mobile phone in connection with other matters.

“Police found four of these videos on your phone. The acts that are shown in the videos and narrated in the charge amount to rape and to sexual assault.”

Referring to the impact on one victim, Lord Young continued: “The complainer describes her misery at the time of these events.

“She has also described, very fully, severe psychological and practical consequences. Some of these continue to affect her life to a significant extent to this day.”

Mr McNee was added to the sex offenders’ register and faces an 18-month supervision order on his release from prison.

Welcoming the conviction, Procurator Fiscal Faye Cook said: “Derek McNee subjected two women to serious abuse and exploitation.

“These offences had a profound impact on both victims, who should have been safe in his company.

“His conviction reflects the courage of the women who felt able to report their experiences, enabling prosecutors to seek justice on their behalf.

“Prosecuting offenders such as McNee helps make Scotland a safer place for all.”
