Identified only as Beth, she said national security “has been used as a shield for abuse, dishonesty and evading accountability.”
Three High Court judges ruled it “would not be in the public interest” to bring contempt proceedings over MI5’s failings, saying further action was a matter for police.
The false evidence was contained in a witness statement for MI5’s successful 2022 bid to injunct the BBC from naming spy “X” who allegedly abused two women.
MI5 maintained the evidence was accurate for three years before admitting it was wrong.
In July, Deputy Investigative Powers Commissioner Sir John Goldring found “serious and systemic failings” by MI5.
Beth said: “I found myself fighting not only for recognition of what had happened to me, but against an institution that appeared determined not to help and instead to conceal the truth.
“The fact that MI5 has accepted the findings of the Goldring report is important, but acceptance is not accountability.”
