The gardeners, who look after London’s most prestigious parks, including Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and St James’s Park, voted 95 per cent in favour of strike action last month after their employer, Idverde, offered a 70p-an-hour pay rise.

They are taking part in further strike action after Idverde failed to deliver an improved pay offer.

GMB regional organiser Anna Lee said: “Our members are skilled, experienced professionals who create and maintain our capital’s world-class parks.

“They love their jobs, but they know what their labour is worth and they will not back down until they get a fair pay offer.

“It’s time Idverde got back round the table and offered a decent pay rise.”

The Royal Parks and Idverde were approached for comment.
