Campaigners stage mushroom cloud protest demanding Labour government stops increasing nuclear threat

ACTIVISTS unveiled a 20-foot mushroom cloud in Liverpool yesterday as they demanded the Labour government stops increasing the threat of nuclear war.

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) stunt at St George’s Plateau took place as Prime Minister Andy Burnham delivered his keynote address at Labour conference.

Protesters performed a symbolic “die-in” underneath the mushroom cloud, highlighting the accelerating threat of nuclear weapons being used again in war.
