Britain’s economic growth to slow next year, OECD predicts

The international group estimated the British economy to have grown by 1.1 per cent for this current year, up from a previous estimate of 0.9 from June, suggesting that consumers are likely to “be supported by newly announced government support measures.”

But growth is still expected to be weaker than the 1.4 per cent reported last year and is then likely to dip slightly next year, said the OECD.

It also forecast that inflation will be below previous forecasts this year but will then take longer than expected to fall back to target levels.

Britain’s consumer price inflation is set to hit 3.1 per cent for 2026, lower than the previous prediction of 3.6, but still the second-fastest increase in the G7.
