Saudi and Qatari foreign ministers discuss de-escalation efforts
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed “ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, and enhance security and stability” with Qatari Prime Minister and and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry said.
The discussion over a phone call came a day after Al Thani said mediation efforts between the United States and Iran were ongoing to prevent an escalation.
“We cannot wait to reach a perfect agreement; we hope to reach a good agreement,” he said.
It was the second reported phone call between the two ministers in the past week.
