Palestinian-American journalist freed after 13 days in Israeli detention

Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed was released from Damon Prison after 13 days, following an Israeli court decision.

Hamed was arrested on 15 September at the Tuqu checkpoint while returning from an assignment. She was separated from her camera crew and taken to an unknown location for questioning.

According to Israeli media, Hamed was arrested on suspicion of “cooperating with an enemy entity” and possible espionage. She had previously served as a correspondent for Iran’s Press TV in the occupied West Bank.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, 36 Palestinian journalists, including four women, remain detained in Israeli jails, along with about 90 Palestinian women.
