On September 11, 2026, the Federal Working Group for Homeless Assistance (BAG W) will hold its “Day of the Homeless” in Berlin – (https://www.bagw.de/de/nationale-strategie/aktionsseite-zum-tag-der-wohnungslosen-menschen-2026/auszeichen) with politicians on stage and awards for “successful participation”, while more and more people live on the streets, in forced communal emergency accommodation and in inhumane conditions.

Apartments are empty and apartments can be prepared in empty buildings using simple means.

The Berlin Alliance together against homelessness and forced evictions (https://bundnisgegenobdachlosen.wordpress.com/) calls for protest.

Come to the Melanchthon Church at Planufer 84 in Kreuzberg on Friday, September 11th from 9:30 a.m. Speak directly to people without housing and invite them to the rally. Bring friends, colleagues and other supporters.

Apartments instead of forced mass accommodation.
Self-determination instead of control, exclusion and helper violence.
Self-advocacy instead of charity and participation parties.
For a life without coercion, exclusion and institutional dependency.

The Alliance Together Against Homelessness and Forced Evictions calls on:

A “Day of the Homeless” on whichPoliticiansTalking about participation on a stage and giving out awards for “successful participation” while people without a home continue to live in forced communal emergency accommodation, on the streets or in hidden homelessness – that is not a celebration for us.

That is a reason to protest.

The Federal Working Group for Homeless Assistance (BAG W) gives the Federal President, the Berlin Social Senator andPoliticiansfrom the Bundestag room for speeches and a big political talk.

But where are those who sleep on the streets? Who freeze to death in winter? Who die from the heat in summer? Experience the violence? Who can't get an apartment because they don't have ID, own a dog, have too many bags, are addicted or meet some other exclusion criterion?

We want to create a space for remembrance, contradiction and independent self-representation opposite the BAG W venue. We want to remember the people who lost their lives due to forced evictions, failure of authorities, arbitrariness by authorities, violence, cold, heat and a lack of living space.
