Western Sahara - Occupation and Resistance

Morocco has occupied Western Sahara for around 50 years. The kingdom receives support from Washington. Morocco is an important partner in North Africa for the USA. Both countries carry out the annual joint military exercise “African Lion”. Morocco is also an important partner for the EU. The country is supposed to prevent migrants on the African continent from reaching European soil. The externalization and militarization of the EU's external borders also strengthens Morocco's illegal occupation of Western Sahara. At the same time, Sahrawis are resisting and fighting for their right to self-determination.
