Statement on the police operation and the storming of our rooms

What then followed were hours in which around 50 people waited in the AZ, which was surrounded by an enormous number of police and authorities. Although there were attempts by the demonstrators to contact the police and cooperate, the AZ was violently stormed at 12:30 a.m. The police recorded the personal details of those present and took around 10 people into custody. According to our current knowledge, all people taken into custody were released in the morning hours. Around 4 a.m., all other people were able to leave the AZ. The main entrance was sealed and we were monitored by the police until now (around 11 a.m.). So far there has been no accusation and no search warrant.

We consider the police's actions to be absolutely disproportionate. Nothing this evening justifies a contingent of this size, an hours-long cauldron in front of our door and violent access to our rooms and the protesters.

In over 30 years of AZ history, such a measure has never occurred. The consequences cannot currently be estimated for us.

For us, this remains a dark conclusion to an already dark day: a right-wing extremist party becomes the strongest force in a state parliament, while the state and police apparatus have nothing better to do than subject those who resist it to massive repression.

What happened that night affects not just the 50 people, but everyone who uses the AZ. We are examining legal action against the operation and are demanding an explanation from the authorities.
