Justice4Nzoy – together against racism and the police!

Saturday, September 12, 2026, 2 p.m. Landesmuseum Zurich: Justice4Nzoy! Demonstration against racism, police violence and the arming of those in power.

Roger Nzoy Wilhelm was shot dead by a police officer on August 30, 2021. His death is not an isolated incident. Lamin Fatty, Hervé Mandundu, Mike Ben Peter, Michael Kenechukwu Ekemezie, 14-year-old Camila and 17-year-old Marvin have also been killed in police operations in the canton of Vaud in recent years.

Racist police violence has a system: It starts with the police harassment that people of color are exposed to every day and always ends with deadly violence. The fight for justice for Nzoy is therefore also a fight against all forms of state racism.

This year's demonstration is dominated by militarization. Racist police violence and the current armament of those in power belong together. Capitalism is based on the exploitation of resources and labor - here and particularly violently in the global south. For this exploitation he needs racist violence, which ranges from colonial dominance to global exploitation to a highly armed migration regime. The genocide in Palestine currently shows what brutality the imperialist dynamics of capitalism can unleash.

Militarization is progressing in Europe. In the capitalist crisis, social contradictions intensify and the state increasingly relies on military force to secure its interests: wars against the outside and repression against the inside. Racism is an important means of power. Class society includes not only the contradictions between the ruling and working classes, but also racist divisions within the exploited class. People of color are systematically pushed into precarious working conditions. Anti-Muslim racism normalizes the genocide in Gaza and the repression of Palestine solidarity. Police violence enforces class rule and is supported by racist ideology.

But this oppression is countered by a rich history of resistance. In Europe it ranges from migrant resistance at the borders and in prisons to struggles against police brutality such as the campaign for Oury Jalloh. In the USA, the experiences of the Black Panthers, the Black Lives Matter movement and the resistance against ICE are combined. All of these struggles show the central importance of community work: organizing in the neighborhoods and building structures of solidarity. We can learn from these experiences. The best remedy against racist violence is class struggle – from the bottom up! The Justice4Nzoy campaign takes up this practice as it networks in District 4 and beyond.

Let's organize anti-racist solidarity in the neighborhoods and companies! Let us defend ourselves when our relatives, neighbors, friends and work colleagues are threatened, humiliated and attacked by the police and migration offices!
