From September 24th to 26th The Bundeswehr is carrying out the NATO maneuver exercise “Red Storm Charlie”.

The focus is on testing civil-military cooperation. Numerous Hamburg institutions are involved: hospitals, the job center, Christian communities, police, fire departments, technical relief organizations, port authorities and commercial companies. The aim of integrating the civilian infrastructure is to consolidate Hamburg as a logistical hub for a war “in the East”.

The “turning point” has long since arrived in Hamburg: military institutions such as the Command Academy and the University of the Bundeswehr have been located here for decades. Weapons used to commit war crimes and genocides are shipped through the port of Hamburg around the world: the port's infrastructure has long been used to ship deadly export goods. In addition, the armaments company Rheinmetall has taken over the Blohm&Voss shipyard in order to build a center for naval armaments.

The Rheinmetall Disarm Alliance calls on all neighborhoods, organized groups, artists, students, parents, employees and the Hamburg population who are unwilling to go to war to refuse the logic of war in a diverse, autonomous and creative manner and to disrupt the maneuver wherever possible.

There are not only key players in arms production, but also those involved in NATO maneuvers. From rallies, human chains, helium balloons, color markings to blockades or sabotage of operations, there are many ways to disrupt war logistics and the normalization of civil-military cooperation.

Abandoning maneuvers, paralyzing war logistics, making military cooperation visible, refusing to accept the circumstances, protecting civilian infrastructure, betraying the logic of war, defending the right to the city: there are many goals - come up with something that disturbs, irritates, delights, that escapes from the logic of soldierly discipline and harshness, that helps unlearn war. For a city that fights from below for a tomorrow that is not dominated by soldierly masculinity and obedience.
