Communist youth in Hamburg actively against the NATO maneuver “Red Storm Charlie”

The military maneuver called “RedStorm Charlie” will take place in Hamburg from September 24th to 26th. With over 500 soldiers, various (civilian) actors and monopolies, the relocation of soldiers and resources to possible bases on the Eastern Front will be trained. Many young people in Hamburg are opposing the maneuver.

Communist young people and militants have organized various actions against this maneuver. On September 20th, the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) reported a “paint attack on the SPD office in Altona.”

Other actions were also reported. At the main building of the University of Hamburg, the red color was put on at the weekend. The activists wrote next to it “Nato Out!”

The German state institution involved in the NATO maneuver, the “Agency for Work” in Hasselbrook, also had to employ cleaning companies to remove the anti-NATO slogans from its main entrance The letters “Stop NATO maneuvers!” The German Bundestag decided in February that the Employment Agency should “secure employment” in the event of war, for which bans on dismissal or forced labor are also permitted.

“Fight with us side by side against warmongering”

The Communist Youth Organization (KGÖ) discovered flyers and posters in various districts of Hamburg. Several hundred posters were put up in various districts of Hamburg, at universities and vocational schools, and flyers were distributed.

“From September 24th to 26th, the imperialist powers of NATO are preparing together here in Hamburg for a third world war. The city will be paralyzed for three days[...].Hamburg is supposed to become the “logistical hub” for this war "The only people who have an interest in this 'war capability' are the monopoly capitalists like Rheinmetall, Bloom and Voss or Airbus, who want to defend their power in the world system." They wrote on their poster.

They called out: “The workers, oppressed people, young people and women only have to lose in the imperialist war. […] We are calling all neighbors, colleagues, women, LGBTI+, schoolchildren and students onto the streets to disrupt the imperialist maneuver “RedStorm Charlie”, see I am fighting to take part in the demo and organize actions that are blocking the process. Organize yourself in a revolutionary way, fill the ranks of the communist organizations, fight side by side with us against warmongering and for a free future for the working class and women worldwide!”

The Rheinmetall Disarm Alliance is calling for an action camp lasting several days, the results of which will be seen next week.

On Friday evening, 80 communists took to the streets of Cologne Mühlheim as part of the Rheinmetall Disarm Camp.
