(AC) Aufruf zur Demo: Kein Schritt zurück – linke Freiräume verteidigen!

Das AZ ist seit mehr als 30 Jahren ein Ort für autonome, alternative und unkommerzielle Subkultur und ein Ort an dem sich Antifaschist*innen treffen und organisieren können. Viele Menschen – nicht nur in Aachen – haben einen besonderen Bezug zum AZ: Es ist der Ort an dem Menschen ihre erste Politisierung erfahren, ein Ort für das kollektive Erleben von Partys, Konzerten und Kneipenabenden. Wir sind ein Platz des sozialen und politischen Austausches, und auch ein Rückzugsraum, der sich deutlich gegen verschiedene Formen von Unterdrückung positioniert. Solche Räume sind in Zeiten, in denen extrem rechte Parteien wie die AfD nach der Macht greifen und sich eine enorme soziale Kälte breit macht, unverzichtbar. Offensichtlich sind sie auch besonders bedroht: In Sachsen-Anhalt werden linke Jugendzentren von Faschisten abgefackelt, in Aachen von der Polizei angegriffen.

Wir wollen diesen Angriff auf unsere Räume nicht unbeantwortet lassen. Deswegen rufen wir alle dazu auf, am kommenden Sonntag, den 13.09, gemeinsam mit uns auf die Straße zu gehen und zu zeigen, dass wir uns nicht einschüchtern lassen. Wenn Faschisten Wahlen gewinnen, braucht es antifaschistische Präsenz auf der Straße, und Räume, die eine klare Haltung zeigen. Egal, ob ihr aus Aachen kommt, oder anreisen müsst, schließt euch uns an, und lasst uns gemeinsam Stärke zeigen.

Not one step back!

As many of you will have heard, the Autonomes Zentrum Aachen was stormed by the police in the night of Sunday to Monday, 7 September, following a spontaneous antifascist demonstration. The demonstration was prompted by the AfD’s election victory in Saxony-Anhalt. The day after the raid, our premises were seized and searched by the police. We have already set out our assessment of the operation as the AZ in two press releases.

It sends a clear message when the Aachen police criminalise antifascists and storm a left-wing cultural space on the very day that a fascist party wins a state election in Germany.

For more than 30 years the AZ has been a place for autonomous, alternative and non-commercial subculture, and a place where antifascists can meet and organise. Many people — not only in Aachen — have a special connection to the AZ: it is the place where people first become politicised, a place for the collective experience of parties, concerts and evenings at the bar. We are a space for social and political exchange, and also a place of retreat that takes a clear stand against various forms of oppression. At a time when far-right parties like the AfD are reaching for power and an enormous social coldness is spreading, spaces like these are indispensable. Clearly, they are also particularly under threat: in Saxony-Anhalt, left-wing youth centres are being torched by fascists; in Aachen, they are attacked by the police.

We do not intend to let this attack on our spaces go unanswered. That is why we are calling on everyone to take to the streets with us this coming Sunday, 13 September, and to show that we will not be intimidated. When fascists win elections, what is needed is an antifascist presence on the streets and spaces that take a clear position. Whether you are from Aachen or have to travel, join us and let’s show our strength together.

Pas un pas en arrière!

Comme beaucoup l’ont remarqué, le Centre autonome d’Aix-la-Chapelle a été pris d’assaut par la police dans la nuit du dimanche au lundi 7 septembre, à la suite d’une manifestation antifasciste spontanée. Cette manifestation avait été organisée en réaction à la victoire électorale de l’AfD en Saxe-Anhalt. Le lendemain de l’assaut, nos locaux ont été saisis et fouillés par la police. Nous avons déjà expliqué, dans deux communiqués de presse, comment nous, l’AZ, interprétons cette intervention. La police d’Aix-la-Chapelle envoie un signal clair lorsqu’elle, le jour même où un parti fasciste remporte une victoire électorale, criminalise les antifascistes et prend d’assaut un espace culturel de gauche.
 

Depuis plus de 30 ans, l’AZ est un lieu dédié à la sous-culture autonome, alternative et non commerciale, ainsi qu’un lieu où les antifascistes peuvent se retrouver et s’organiser. De nombreuses personnes – et pas seulement à Aix-la-Chapelle – entretiennent un lien particulier avec l’AZ : c’est le lieu où beaucoup ont fait leurs premiers pas dans la politique, un lieu où l’on vit collectivement des fêtes, des concerts et des soirées au bar. Nous sommes un lieu d’échanges sociaux et politiques, mais aussi un refuge qui prend clairement position contre diverses formes d’oppression. De tels espaces sont indispensables à une époque où des partis d’extrême droite comme l’AfD briguent le pouvoir et où une immense froideur sociale se répand. De toute évidence, elles sont également particulièrement menacées : en Saxe-Anhalt, des centres de jeunesse de gauche sont incendiés par des fascistes ; à Aix-la-Chapelle, ils sont attaqués par la police.

Nous ne voulons pas laisser cette attaque contre nos espaces sans réponse. C’est pourquoi nous appelons tout le monde à descendre dans la rue avec nous dimanche prochain, le 13 septembre, pour montrer que nous ne nous laisserons pas intimider. Lorsque les fascistes remportent des élections, il faut une présence antifasciste dans la rue et des lieux qui affichent clairement leur position. Que vous veniez d’Aix-la-Chapelle ou que vous deviez faire le déplacement, rejoignez-nous et montrons ensemble notre force.
