NINE MICE LIBERATED FROM A LABORATORY.

“The Animal Liberation Front claims responsibility for the liberation of nine mice from the University of New Orleans earlier this month.

On September 19, 2026, nine female mice (including four so-called “breeding females”) were loaded up and spirited away from a miserable, windowless cinderblock room on the 2nd floor of UNO’s Psychology Building to begin a new life in safety and comfort. All nine are being lovingly looked after and tended to. None were released into the wild.

The lab chosen was that of Christopher Harshaw, who subjects mice and rats to experiments that purportedly aim to study autism, body temperature regulation and social behavior. This includes injecting them with drugs (including acetaminophen to induce neurodevelopment disorders), shutting them into small lighted cabinets overnight, and putting poisonous chemicals into their water like aniline (known to cause blood disorders and spleen tumors in rodents).

Moreover, Christopher Harshaw and his research assistant Anna are personally responsible for the killing of hundreds of animals per year, sometimes as many as 30-50 in a single day, as noted in Harshaw’s “Euthanasia Log” notebook, which on a previous visit was removed, had its pages photocopied (along with other documents related to animal research) and then put back. His death tally: 323 in 2023 (rats and mice), 575 in 2024 (rats and mice, including one wild mouse caught in a live trap and killed on the premises), and 363 in 2025 (all mice). His method: gassing them to death with co2.

Extensive video was also taken documenting the decrepit conditions of the lab as well as Roberto Refinetti’s animal room full of cages formerly housing squirrels (empty at the time of filming).

As should be clear: the purpose of this action wasn’t to vandalize, nor was it mere opportunism. This was a carefully planned and orchestrated live liberation of mice from Chris Harshaw’s lab. Its only purpose was getting the animals to safety as quickly as possible, therefore no equipment was damaged and no messages left at the scene. The whole operation, from entering the building to exiting with the animals, took ten minutes.

It should also be noted: This action was carried out using a minimum number of tools (none) and a minimum number of personnel (one).

This proves not only that lab raids can still be completed in 2026 but that one person, working alone, can successfully accomplish them.

To Chris Harshaw: Accessing your lab was child’s play, and with the hammer and drill on site it would have been only too easy to decommission every piece of equipment you own. Consider this a warning. In the end you were shown more mercy than the animals you hold captive.

And a word to all you would-be liberators out there: These facilities are not the fortresses you think they are. They are not impregnable. In fact the animal abusers in white coats have become so secure in their belief that no one is watching that they sometimes don’t even bother locking their doors! Use this negligence to your advantage. And while they sleep, go and do your work.
