Second verdict in New York: Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 15 years in prison

ap | Former US film producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a 2006 sex crime. The verdict came on Wednesday in New York, more than six years after Weinstein was first convicted.

A jury found the 74-year-old guilty again last year of sexually assaulting former television production assistant Miriam Haley in his Manhattan apartment in 2006.

The producer of successful films such as “Pulp Fiction” and “Shakespeare in Love” was sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 for the assault on Haley and the rape of aspiring actress Jessica Mann. However, New York State's highest court overturned the guilty verdicts in 2024. It ruled that Weinstein had been disadvantaged by statements from other women whose allegations were not the subject of the proceedings.

In the new trial, Weinstein was found guilty again in the Haley case. The jury was unable to agree on a verdict on another rape charge.
