Numerous meteorologists and climate experts met at the extreme weather congress in Hamburg. Among other things, this year's world risk report was presented. This shows that storms are the most expensive extreme weather events - and after heat and earthquakes, the deadliest. Nevertheless, the biggest disasters do not necessarily occur in countries that are highly exposed to storms.

Researchers at the University of Freiburg have examined the influence of right-wing extremist attitudes on the spread of low-emission technologies in municipalities. Their study shows that, on average, electric cars and photovoltaic systems are less common in municipalities with high support for the AfD. This is not about the party's political program - but its voters often personally forego benefiting from the advantages of the energy transition.
