The attack occurred in Dera Ismail Khan, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said Bilal Faizi, a spokesman for the provincial emergency service. Local police chief Safdar Baloch said most of those killed and wounded were security personnel and passersby.

CONGO: A vessel carrying traders capsized in Lake Kivu in eastern Congo, killing at least 12 and leaving dozens missing, authorities said yesterday.

The vessel was carrying more than 50 people when it capsized on Saturday night in the Idjwi territory, in South Kivu province, said Felix Habiragi, chief of the village of Kisheke.

He said that about 15 people have been rescued. The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.

EUROPEAN MIGRATION: European interior ministers held talks on Saturday to strengthen border controls, improve emergency response times and establish fast-track procedures for returning some migrants.

The gathering of 17 ministers from the European Union and Britain comes as the bloc tightens migration controls following the implementation of a migration and asylum pact in June. 

SOUTH AFRICA: Police officers said on Saturday that they have discovered another woman’s body in Ekurhuleni, to the east of Johannesburg.

The discovery brings the number of women found dead there in recent months to 10.

Local police said they were not ruling out the possibility that there was a serial killer on the loose.
