The returnees, including 86 women, have been convicted of staying illegally and other immigration violations in Malaysia, according to reports from Myanmar media.
The returnees are among 5,000 Myanmar nationals who will be repatriated in stages from Malaysia, where 10,388 others were being held at immigration detention centres, according to Malaysia’s Home Ministry.
NORWAY: Two people were killed and another seriously injured today when a shooter opened fire on a hunting party near Halden in southern Norway, police said.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is not believed to be part of the hunting party, police said in a statement. The injured victim was flown to a hospital for treatment.
JAPAN: A United States Marine stationed in Japan’s Okinawa prefecture was arrested by local police today on suspicion of robbing and murdering a local woman, according to local media.
Marine Devin Ballard, is suspected of killing the woman after stealing her wallet on Saturday at a hotel in Naha, before killing her.
UNITED STATES: The head of Tennessee’s prison system, Frank Strada, is resigning, Governor Bill Lee announced on Saturday.
This follows the failed execution of Christa Pike last week that left her unconscious and on a ventilator at a hospital.
It was the second time since May that Tennessee has not been able to execute a prisoner who was seemingly moments away from death.
