MEN’S CYCLING: Spain’s Enric Mas takes a lead of two minutes and six seconds into tomorrow’s hilly stage 16 at La Vuelta. 

Austria’s Felix Gall is second with four-time winner Primoz Roglic four seconds further back in third. 

Scotland’s Oscar Onley is in fifth, almost six minutes behind Mas. 

Wout van Aert claimed his second triumph of the tour when he sprinted clear of Alessandro Romele and Thibau Nys to win yesterday’s stage 15 into Cordoba.

MEN’S CRICKET: Somerset top County Championship Division One by just four points before they start tomorrow’s latest round of matches at struggling Leicester. 

Second-placed defending champions Nottingham host bottom-of-the-table Hampshire while Warwickshire, who are only one point further back in third, visit Glamorgan. 

Sussex meet Surrey in Hove and Yorkshire take on Essex for a crucial relegation battle at Headingley.

MEN’S CYCLING: Five-time World Tour stage winner Tim Wellens won this year’s Tour of Britain by 42 seconds from Cannock’s Lewis Ashley with Jasper Stuyven in third. 

Scotland’s Elliot Rowe took the young rider classification, Czechia’s Michal Schuran was King of the Mountains and Filippo Ganna won the points classification. 

Wellens’s team-mate Nils Politt won yesterday’s final stage that started and finished in the Scottish border town of Earlston.
