Malaysia, eight-wicket winners over Hong Kong, take on Oman in Group B. Oman lost to Hong Kong by 41 runs today. 

The top two in each group move on to the quarter-finals where they will be joined by 2022’s champions India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

SPEEDWAY: Max Fricke top-scored with a perfect 15 points from five rides as Sheffield led from the first tape to crush his former club Leicester 57-33 in Thursday’s first leg of their Premiership play-off semi-final. 

Leicester, last year’s runners-up, didn’t win a heat all night. 

Next Thursday’s second leg takes place in the East Midlands with the winners facing either Belle Vue or defending champions Ipswich in the Grand Final.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Defending champions Brora Rangers remain unbeaten and are already six points clear in the Highland League with a game in hand when they host lowly Keith at Dudgeon Park this afternoon. 

Second-placed Inverurie Loco Works travel to Deveronvale. At the other end of the table basement dwellers Rothes visit Turriff United, out-of-form Lossiemouth are up against joint bottom Wick, and Huntly take on Invergordon.

MEN’S BOXING: European and WBO intercontinental featherweight champion Liam Davies defends his belts against former WBO silver, British and Commonwealth titles holder Nathaniel Collins on Saturday night in Birmingham. 

Davies has one defeat from 19 fights. On the undercard Gerome Warburton fights Nathan Heaney in a rematch of March’s WBA continental middleweight title bout that Warburton won on points.
