The British number one had already lost twice to the Czech Wimbledon finalist this season, winning just a single game in their meeting at the US Open last month. 

Boulter put up a much better fight in the opening set in Beijing and led 4-1 before Muchova battled back to take it in a tie-break, then pulled away to clinch a 7-6 (3) 6-1 victory.

MEN’S CRICKET: Pakistan will face India in Saturday’s Asian Games Twenty20 final after they cruised past Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-affected semi-final. 

Defending champions India thrashed Sri Lanka by 124 runs in their last-four clash. 

Ishan Kishan hit a rapid unbeaten 80 as India posted 169-7, before Sri Lanka lost three wickets in the first seven balls, suffered three run-outs and only reached 45 all out from 9.5 overs.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The first of 40 English FA Cup third qualifying-round ties kick off at Saturday lunchtime with Dagenham and Redbridge making the short trip to Brentwood. 

Other highlights include two-time winners Bury hosting Bromsgrove Sporting, while Kettering, who reached the fourth round in 2009, face Worcester and Morecambe take on Darlington. 

All winners receive £5,625 in prize money, losers just £1,875.

SPEEDWAY: Joe Thompson top-scored with 14+1 points as Leicester Lions crushed Sheffield Tigers 57-33 in Thursday night’s second leg of their Premiership play-off semi-final. 

Ex-Leicester captain Max Fricke, racing as a guest for Sheffield, was the only visiting rider to reach double figures. 

With the aggregate score level at 90-90, Fricke led the Tigers to victory in the Super Heat and set up next week’s Grand Final with Belle Vue.
