MEN’S CRICKET: Australia beat South Africa by 45 runs using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in the dead rubber of their three-match one-day series at the Potchefstroom Oval on Wednesday.
Alex Carey top-scored with 74 and Mitch Marsh hit 54 for the Aussies in their 322-9 with Corbin Bosch taking 4-60.
South Africa had reached 145-4 after 28 overs when the match was abandoned, giving them a 2-1 series victory.
MEN’S RUGBY UNION: The second round of United Rugby Championship action gets underway on Friday evening with Connacht aiming to be the first Irish club to get a victory when they visit Treviso.
Cardiff can follow up their winning start against the Scarlets when they host Zebre, who were stuffed 47-13 at home to Pretoria’s Bulls, while South African captain Siya Kolisi is set to return for the Cape Town-based Stormers when they travel to Edinburgh.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Two-time defending champions England will confirm their place at next year’s Under-21 Euros if they avoid defeat against Slovakia in Stoke tomorrow night.
The Young Lions are unbeaten in eight games and lead Group D by five points from Ireland with a game in hand.
Already through to the finals, alongside hosts Serbia and Albania, are Portugal and Croatia, who face Ukraine in Hungary Friday evening and Norway.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: London Lions look to continue their barnstorming start to the new Super League season when they take on Leicester at the Copper Box Arena on Friday evening.
The defending champions are unbeaten in their opening four games, while Leicester went down 108-94 at Cheshire in their only outing of the new campaign.
Tomorrow night’s other games see Manchester visit Bristol and Newcastle take on the Caledonian Gladiators.
