The Dons should arguably have been in front at the interval after Jack Milne forced Raphael Sallinger into a save from distance and the local boy also hit the crossbar with a header; but Robinson’s men imploded following Jamie McGrath’s opener and might as well have quit after Callum Wright made it 2-0.
Substitutes Nicky Cadden and Thibault Klidje added late goals to make it 4-0 and Robinson conceded: “As soon as we went 2-0 down, it didn’t look like we had a way back.”
The Dons have struggled with injuries, particularly defensively, and lost midfielder Connor Ronan to a hamstring issue just after falling behind.
Robinson said: “People don’t want to hear excuses. They want to see action and we weren’t able to give them that tonight. I’m not going to speak about individual players, we deserved the reaction at the end. It’s not good enough.
“Ultimately the blame will fall on me no matter what. I’ve turned situations round but we need everyone to stand up and fight.”
Hibs boss Marink Reedijk picked up a first league win, having overcome Hearts in the League Cup last weekend, and he is looking for his side to build after this result moved them off the bottom of the Premiership.
