Rayner focuses on homelessness, co-ops and leasehold reform in conference speech

ENDING homelessness, regenerating high streets and abolishing the leasehold system that sees many home-owners ripped off through ground rents and service charges formed the backbone of Housing Secretary Angela Rayner’s address to Labour conference today.

The party’s former deputy leader insisted that Labour was serious about tackling the housing crisis, saying the Renters’ Rights Act had delivered “more for 11 million renters in 14 months than the Tories managed in 14 years” and boasting of changes to planning rules “to get the homes and infrastructure we need built.”
