Ocon’s future in doubt as he prepares to leave Haas at end of year

The French driver, who has made 195 appearances in the sport — claiming one win in Hungary in 2021 — revealed at the last round in Azerbaijan that he will be a “free agent” for 2027.

However, there are no realistic options for the 30-year-old on the grid next year, with only Racing Bulls and Cadillac still to confirm their line-ups.

“I leave this project with my head held high and proud of my performances in what were not always the easiest of circumstances for various reasons and factors outside of my control,” said Ocon, who has scored 13 fewer points than British team-mate Ollie Bearman so far this year.

“My immediate focus is the next race weekend. I will continue to work hard with the team, maximise every opportunity, and keep extracting every bit of performance from the car.

“There are still many races to go this season and, as always, I will give it my everything behind the wheel for myself and for my team.

“I am still motivated. I am still hungry. This is absolutely not the end of my Formula One career.”

It is anticipated that Haas will sign Brazilian Rafael Camara as Ocon’s replacement.
