Labour deleagtes back firefighter recruitment boost and wildfire training

DEMANDS for the recruitment of 5,000 firefighters and the introduction of nationally recognised wildfire training were backed by the Labour conference today.

Delegates in Liverpool passed the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) motion calling for the major investment in recruitment and the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).

They also acknowledged that the fire service had been decimated by Tory-led austerity.
