Seven in 10 young people voted against the Republicans in this week’s midterm elections, according to US youth research centre Circle.
Socialist Students national chairman Adam Powell-Davies described the vote as a “revolt against a government of billionaires that attacks migrants, wrecks the planet and pours money into war while young people struggle with rent, debt and the cost of living.”
He said: “Young Americans have delivered their verdict on Trump.
“But it was a vote against Trump, not a blank cheque for a Democratic establishment that failed to stop him last time.”
Mr Powell-Davis said young people across the world were “showing that when we organise, we can win.”
“Serbian students have defeated [former president Aleksandar] Vucic at the ballot box and French students have forced billions of euros for schools and universities out of their government,” he said.
“Here, Labour has cut university teaching grants two years running while planning to raise military spending to close to £80 billion a year by 2029.
“On November 20, students across Britain will walk out to fight for our future, not their wars.”
Students from 50 cities across Britain will take part in the International Youth Strike, which has been backed by the National Education Union, with actions expected at more than 100 schools, colleges and universities.
Other unions, including the University and College Union and Unison, have called for protests in every university on the same day.
Students will gather in Parliament Square at midday and a full list of actions can be found on the youth strike website.
