Yemen's Saudi-backed forces begin 'strategic offensive' in Sanaa

Yemen's Saudi-backed government forces said on Monday that they had begun a “strategic offensive” in Yemen's capital Sanaa.

The Iran-aligned Houthis have held the capital and vast parts of the northwest, where most of the population live, since 2014.

Saudi-backed troops also said they had seized key positions around the Bab al-Mandab strait, as they try and regain ground lost to the Houthis.
