Yemeni government says Houthis suffering heavy blows

The Yemeni government’s army said on Thursday that it targeted Houthi supplies and military positions in Taiz and Mocha in southwestern Yemen.

Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, also said Houthi forces are suffering heavy blows on the fronts in Taiz, Marib, Lahj, al-Jawf, Hajjah, al-Bayda and al-Dhale.

In a meeting with the French ambassador to Yemen, al-Alimi called the Houthis' gains temporary, according to Yemen's Saba news agency, adding that “the state and its armed forces are fully capable of regaining the initiative on the West Coast”. 

This comes after the Houthis seized territories on Yemen’s Red Sea coast in a lightning advance, while Saudi-backed government forces fought to regain control of southwestern Yemen.
