UK petition seeking Gaza genocide inquiry nears parliament debate threshold

Britain's Your Party has said that its petition calling for a public enquiry into Britain’s involvement in Israel’s genocide in Gaza has reached 90,000, approaching 100,000 mark that will make it eligible for a debate in parliament.

"We will reach 100,000. Burnham has had 110 days to name Israel’s genocide of Gaza. He refused, then blocked an enquiry into Britain’s role. We never needed his permission. Palestinians deserve the truth. We will outlast his silence," Your Party wrote on X.

The petition was launched by Your Party chief Jennifer Forbes on 23 October and calls for scrutiny of British involvement, including arms supplies, surveillance aircraft and the use of Royal Air Force bases. The enquiry would have the power to question ministers and officials over their decisions.

90,000 signed our petition in 15 days. We will reach 100,000. Burnham has had 110 days to name Israel’s genocide of Gaza. He refused, then blocked an inquiry into Britain’s role. We never needed his permission. Palestinians deserve the truth. We will outlast his silence. Sign: https://t.co/TxSjolT6iG
