Trump labels Strait of Hormuz ‘Trump Strait’ in social media post
US President Donald Trump has posted an image on his Truth Social platform showing the Strait of Hormuz circled and labelled “Trump Strait”, hours after Iran said it had presented a seven-day plan to reopen the strategic waterway.
The post came after The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had rejected Iran’s proposal, citing unnamed US officials.
The report said Trump was sceptical that Tehran would meet his demands and believed a renewed US bombing campaign was likely.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had presented the United States with a “concrete” seven-day plan and that the decision now rested with Washington.
US officials told Al Jazeera that Washington was in no hurry to respond to Iran’s proposal.
