Tanker struck by unknown projectile in Strait of Hormuz, UKMTO reports
A tanker was hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire on board, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Friday.
The fire has since been extinguished, and all crew members were reported safe.
“All crew are reported safe and the environmental impact is unconfirmed at present,” UKMTO said in a statement.
The agency advised vessels in the strait “to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO while authorities investigate”.
