Netanyahu shortens New York visit amid possible protests ahead of UN speech

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the United States this week for a short visit to address the UN General Assembly, but his plans have been cut short over fears of protests, Ynet reported.

Amid fears of possible pushback from New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Ynet reported that Netanyahu is expected to land at a military airfield in New Jersey or Newark Liberty International Airport, rather than JFK airport.

President Donald Trump will not meet with Netanyahu during the trip, but talks are being considered with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other foreign leaders.

Ynet reported that Netanyahu's speech will focus on Iran and is expected by officials close to him to contain "surprises."

Israeli officials are also getting ready for possible disruptions at the UN, such as a coordinated walkout by representatives of several countries, the report said.
