Iran official criticises UAE welcoming ‘Butcher of Gaza’ Netanyahu into country
The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent trip to the UAE last weekend.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Rozaei warned that "Just as hosting US military bases has not brought you security, hosting the 'Butcher of Gaza' will also not have favourable consequences."
The visit comes a month before Israeli elections amid controversy over reports alleging Netanyahu had ignored warnings from UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ahead of the Hamas-led attacks on 7 October 2023.
