Iran blacklists 77 ships accused of breaking Strait of Hormuz rules
Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority has placed 77 vessels on a list of ships it accuses of “violating Iranian protocols for the Strait of Hormuz”.
The Iranian body, which oversees transit requests through the waterway, said the vessels could face “fines, detention or confiscation” if they attempt future crossings.
It warned that it would also list commercial ships that cooperate with the US and its allies.
Tehran disputes repeated assertions by US President Donald Trump that the American military exercises “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran says it will not reopen the strait until Washington meets its demands over US attacks, reparations and sanctions.
