Father of man killed by Israeli fire during 7 October calls Netanyahu a traitor
The father of an Israeli man killed by Israeli military fire during the Hamas-led attack of 7 October 2023 has branded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "traitor", and told him: "You did not protect my son."
According to Israeli outlet Ynet, Yaakov Godo, the father of Tom Godo, interrupted Netanyahu as the Israeli prime minister delivered a speech marking the third anniversary of the attack at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem on Monday.
“It’s a disgrace that you didn’t protect those murdered on October 7,” Yaakov Godo shouted out. “The blood of my son and of another 1,200 people murdered in a single day is on his (Netanyahu's) hands and on his head.”
Netanyahu briefly interrupted his speech. "I wanted to tell him he was a traitor - but I couldn't," Godo said afterwards.
“I managed to stand up to him once. I don't have many opportunities to meet him. It was important to me to tell him that the blood of my son and the blood of 1,200 other people murdered in one day - it's on his hands and on his head," the bereaved father continued.
"He never turned to talk to us. No one came to us and no one even informed us that Tom was killed. Only the army came after a year and a half and said that it was sorry and that Tom was shot by army soldiers,” Godo said.
Tom Godo was killed by Israeli military gunfire after the Hannibal Directive was invoked while sheltering in his home at Kibbutz Kissufim with his wife and three daughters.
