Erdogan calls Gaza 'the most inhuman and shameful concentration camp of our time'

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed concern over the absence of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who was unable to travel to New York for the UN assembly because the US rejected his visa application.

“This injustice against our Palestinian brothers and sisters deeply offends the conscience of humanity,” Erdogan told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

Erdogan also condemned the situation in Gaza, saying "nobody with a conscience can close their eyes" to what was happening there.

“The people of Gaza are still searching for their loved ones under the rubble,” Erdogan said, after three years of what he called Israeli "state terror".

He added that Gaza has become “the most inhuman and shameful concentration camp of our time”, calling it "the world’s largest graveyard for children" and "the place with the highest rate of child amputations in the world".
