Eight countries call on Israel to fulfil Gaza ceasefire commitments

The foreign ministers of eight countries have called on Israel to fulfil its commitments under the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan, including allowing the “immediate, safe and unhindered” delivery of humanitarian aid.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE expressed “deep concern over the continued humanitarian suffering in Gaza” and called for the ceasefire to be preserved and all violations to end.

The ministers also rejected any measures aimed at the expulsion or forced displacement of Palestinians from their homeland or attempts to alter the territorial or demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territory. 

They called for continued US involvement in the implementation of the ceasefire plan and said Gaza must remain “an integral part of the Palestinian territory”, as well as a path toward an independent Palestinian state.
