Bono compares Ben-Gvir’s Gaza rhetoric to Nazi official Heinrich Himmler

Bono has compared Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s statements about Palestinians in Gaza to those of Nazi official Heinrich Himmler.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the U2 frontman criticised Benjamin Netanyahu for keeping the far-right minister in government and said Ben-Gvir’s rhetoric undermined Judaism’s moral standing.

He also urged Israel to confront the Nakba’s legacy which led to the ethnic cleansing of more than 750,000 Palestinians from their home and accept compromises to secure justice for Palestinians. Bono made the remarks while discussing U2’s new song, "The Tears of Things", which explores Jewish history and the events preceding the Gaza genocide.

Ben-Gvir responded on X by telling the singer: "If you truly care about the residents of Gaza, help them leave for Ireland.".
