152 countries reject US decision to bar Palestinian delegation from UN meeting

152 countries voted in favor of a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on Thursday, rejecting the US' decision to prevent the Palestinian delegation from participating in the UN General Assembly session in New York next week.

The resolution called on Washington to reverse the decision, considering it a clear violation of the Headquarters Agreement, which legally obliges the host country to facilitate the entry of diplomatic delegations.

The US State Department said on Thursday it has greenlighted visas for a core Iranian delegation and their essential staffers to take part in the meeting, but denied Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other Palestinian officials a visa.
