Go and multiply! May 10 – 100 – 1000 servers be ignited

This idea is by no means new. We've been repeating them since March 2001, when A/I began its adventure. We had already called for the creation of countless self-managed servers, and with this hope in mind we coined the pseudo-biblical phrase:“Go and multiply, said the locusts!”

As much as these words may have sounded like a paranoid cyberpunk prophecy back then, they prove to be an urgent necessity today.

So go and multiply.Copy us. Copied what we did. Copies the code we used. Copies the idea we tried to give shape to. Or just take what you need from us and remix it.If there is something our adversaries fear and loathe—now, in the past, and forever—it is our ability to spread the virus of self-government and self-determination and to fractally replicate infrastructures of resistance.

Autistici/Inventati, it's not just us. Autistici/Inventati may be dying, but thousands have already been born and thousands more will emerge.

And that's not all. What is happening all around us isa coordinated strategy to intensify repressionwith the aim of fundamentally changing not only the rules of the game, but the playing field itself. This means that what is happening is not just affecting a handful of people, butmust be addressed together and as broadly as possible– by individuals, autonomous projects, organizations and society as a whole.

They are at stakeFreedom of expression, information and associationand the very existence of an infrastructure capable of resisting authoritarianism (not just in the United States). At stake is the possibility of continuing to fight everywhere to defend basic commons – such as communications infrastructure – from the imperialism of certain actors.

This goes far beyond ourselves. It affects anyone who wants to live without feeling like a commodity and strives to take control of their life and relationships. If we want to resist this advancing technofascism, we need a broad international solidarity movementTo create framework conditions that protect autonomous infrastructures and spaces that are free of any authoritarian intent.

So let's go back to the question we started with: We are grateful to all of you who shared the story of what happened to us. We are grateful for the great solidarity you have shown us and for your understanding that what has happened to us is just a small step in the chain of events that are likely to continue to unfold - certainly for the worse, but perhaps also for the good.

This vision fills our hearts. But now it's time to go one step further andto push our imagination beyond the shrinking horizons of the possiblethat these dark times force upon us. Our hope is that this attack on network freedom unleashes a powerful and creative collective resistance.May a thousand platforms flourish, may a thousand hacktivist collectives emerge, may a thousand servers revive! May the end of A/I bring forth a myriad of infrastructures of resistance the likes of which we could never have imagined before.

Go out and multiply, said the locusts! And while you're at it, try to imagine a world of struggle, resistance and self-government like you've never seen before.

In these days of rabid, ideological and groundless repression you have often asked us:“How can we support you?”

The first answer that has come to our minds is: if you want to help,create new spaces online. There are way too few autonomous servers around there, whether for email and web hosting or for any other useful communication tools.

This idea is by no means new. We have been repeating it since March 2001, when A/I began its adventure. This means that what is happening does not concern just a handful of people, but needs to be shared and faced collectivelyand as widely as possible - by individuals, autonomous projects, organizations and by the whole society.

What’s at stake isfreedom of speech, information and association, as well as the sheer existence ofinfrastructure capable of resisting authoritarianism(not only in the United States). What’s at stake is the possibility to keep fighting everywhere to defend fundamental commons - like communication infrastructures - from someone’s imperialism.

It's something well beyond ourselves. It concerns anyone who wants to live without feeling commodified and strives to self-determine their lives and relationships. If we want to resist this advancing techno-fascism, we need a broad international solidarity effort to buildframeworks protecting autonomous infrastructure and spaces that are free from any authoritarian intent.

So, let’s get back to the question we started with: we are grateful to all of you who have been telling the story of what’s happened to us. We are grateful for the broad solidarity that you’ve shown to us and for your ability to understand that what’s happened to us is but one small step in the cascade of events that will probably unfold, certainly for worse, but perhaps also for better.
