Free Maya! Free all Antifa! Sponti demo at the Bremen Citizens' Festival on the Day of German Unity

On October 3rd, 2026, almost 30 comrades, equipped with FREE MAJA umbrellas and leaflets, visited the pavilion of the State of Saxony at the Bremen Citizens' Festival to draw attention to the extradition by Saxon authorities and the inhumane imprisonment of Maja T. in Hungary.

Although the action was surrounded by cops within a minute, a wide audience was successfully reached and the pavilion was blocked for a quarter of an hour.

The demo was evacuated into a nearby tunnel blocked on both sides, in which the comrades were held in a circle for 3 hours, including another hour of processing at the edge of the area. The processing tied up well over 50 cops per shift.

Those encircled were denied access to the toilet for a large part of the time and were only rewarded with double escorts later on, after increasing emphasis. Comrades ensured a supply of drinks and food, as well as information to the EA. Some passers-by later showed solidarity during check-in.

According to reports, the cops tried to enforce a detention, which the public prosecutor's office at one point refused, classifying the demonstrators as a gathering without respecting their associated rights, and then portraying the lawyer who froze the measure as the person responsible for the duration. Throughout the entire measure, responsibilities changed several times and the incompetent cops from the mixed state police couldn't classify anything or observe Bremen law and repeatedly tried to twist questions in statements. A few police officers appeared to be violent.

We all stand in solidarity with Maja, Anna, Gabri, Zaid, Gino and all other persecuted anti-fascists. We don't forget what conditions Maja reports about. We do not forget who made the extradition and conviction in Hungary possible.

In a place where Germany stages itself and celebrates itself, grievances are ignored, people are forgotten and visitors are given a false image. The state protects National Socialists and participates in human rights violations. A state that persecutes its own citizens cannot be relied upon.
