TOTW: Going Dark

In light of the recent designation of Autistici/Inventati, the Italian tech-collective, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), anarchists have been scrambling to cope. Questions, ideas, ramblings are all over the place, generally attempting to answer the question: "How do we cope without NoBlogs?"

I don't mean to phrase this in an insulting or mocking way. It is a real concern. We've become reliant on the digital sphere for communication and it may be fair to suggest we've lost some of the hard and soft skills of being offline. Zine distribution, organizing and advertising events, even talking to comrades. So much is online. It isn't to be waved away as "Find another platform." Instagram, BlueSky, etc, are not the solution! The trend, in my eyes, is towards further SDGT designations, account bans from corporate sites like Instagram, etc. It also isn't a matter of "doing the same work offline." How we talk, who we talk to, the speed of communication, will change. Are we prepared to do more in-person outreach for bookfairs? Reestablish communication through letter-writing and word of mouth for our meet-ups?

The question of "How do we cope without NoBlogs?" should also be "How did we become so reliant on the tech-world?" and "How can we build resilience in light of new repression?"

Questions:

1. What led to the growth of anarchist use of the internet, was it unique compared to other populations' adoption of it, or following the trend of novelty?
2. What offline style of meet ups do you appreciate? Bookfairs? Full moon dinners? Roberts Rules of Order meetings?
3. Do you have predictions for further digital/online repression of anarchists?
